REGISTRATION faq - 2024 OCYC SIDELINE SEASON

Q: What is the cost of the program?

A: The cost for a new athlete is $230+; please plan for a $100 registration fee and $130+ for required supplemental uniform apparel of a OCYC jacket, leggings, under skirt shorts, turtleneck, white shoes, and bows. The cost for a returning athlete is $125+; please plan for a $100 registration fee & $25+ for required supplemental uniform apparel depending on sizes/quality to reuse from last season.

Q: Do we get to keep our uniforms?

A: Uniform skirts and shells are property of OCYC. Each family is required to submit a $125 postdated check with registration to be cashed if uniforms are damaged or not returned at the end of season. Any supplemental uniform pieces you purchase are yours to keep.

Q: What days are practices & games?

A: In August, practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays where we will work on general cheerleading skills in order to prepare for future performances. In September & October, practices will be on Mondays and/or Wednesdays depending on the age of your athlete. Games will be on Saturdays at Oak Creek High School with optional away games at location TBD.

Q: Where will practices be held and at what time?

A: Practices will be held at Elite Tumbling Factory - Caledonia between 5PM and 9PM depending on the age of the athlete. Please note that younger athletes will have earlier and typically shorter practice times than the older athletes.

Q: When will the Oak Creek Youth Football game schedule be available?

A: Game schedules are not shared until close to the beginning of the football season, in late August. OCYF and OCYC will always share the schedules as soon as they are confirmed; please be prepared for athletes to cheer every Saturday in September and October.

Q: Which Oak Creek Youth Football team will my athlete cheer for?

A: OCYF has numerous teams in their program and we strive to have complete coverage of all OCYF home football games. We do not have a dedicated football team assigned to a cheer squad and therefore your athlete will cheer for different OCYF teams throughout the season.

Q: How are the squad designations determined?

A: Squads are assigned by ages and final squad designations are determined in July, after registration closes. Once all athletes are registered, the coaching staff will determine the best breakout of teams to prioritize safety and skill-building.

Q: Is there a competition team and how can we sign up?

A: 2024 will be our debut year for our competition team! Registration will open in August and practices will begin in October. You must be in 3rd - 8th grade and an active OCYC athlete during the 2024 OCYF season to participate in the competition team.

Q: I have athletes in Football and Cheer, do I need to fundraise and volunteer for both?

A: While OCYF and OCYC partner with each other in many ways, our fundraisers and volunteer needs are separate. Please ensure you are fulfilling the requirements for each program independently. Note: if you have 2 athletes in OCYC you fundraise for both; if there are 3 or more siblings in OCYC, you only fundraise for 2.

Q: What if I can’t fund-raise? Can my child still participate?

A: Due to multiple factors, we are not participating in the OCYF raffle this year, however, we will have a fundraising requirement. Families will be able to choose between 3 options: (1) Participate in this year’s fundraiser; (2) Pay a $250 fundraising buyout; or (3) Secure a $250 sponsorship per athlete. Fundraising details will be shared in summer 2024.

Q: Is there a requirement to volunteer?

A: Each family is expected to volunteer during the calendar year (Jan thru Dec 2024) and will be required to submit a $250 postdated check with registration to be cashed if volunteer obligations aren’t met. Opportunities include; volunteering on the board, community events, donating prizes to fundraisers, etc.

Q: Can we order more apparel, and how?

A: We will have three apparel shops open throughout the year to purchase OCYC fan gear. These apparel stores are a fundraiser for OCYC; we receive a percentage of these apparel sales and appreciate your support.

Q: I’m interested in coaching or joining the board, what does this entail?

A: Each coach and board member has roles and responsibilities they need to fulfill - they also get some great perks! Volunteering in these roles fulfills your volunteer requirement for the season and you’ll also get a discounted registration fee.

REGISTRATION faq - 2024 OCYC COMPETITION SEASON
